Second wave: Ben Greenman, Dave Tompkins, John Griffin, Andy Hawkins. Many thanks.
I love the beat for "The Corner," and the "I wish I could give you this feeling" line, which is like "Sometimes I think that I'm bigger than the sound" from "Cheated Hearts": a line that twists back to prove and disprove itself. You have already given me this feeling, Mr. West, or a feeling, at least, so what do you mean? Are we have parallel, but distinct experiences? (Can I not understand the lyric?) And when Karen O is "bigger than the sound," it is only because of the sound. So, mortality, and the temporary immortality—or placelessness—of the song.
