Correction: This picture was taken during a session of shooting trap, not skeet, though it represents neither.

“That picture is from what's called ‘patterning,’ which is when you hit a piece of paper with shells filled with different patterns of gunpowder, so you can see exactly how it will spray at 30 feet.”

2 turntables and 6 arms.jpg

I did not take this picture. It was sent to me by the excellent audio consultant Ken Forton. This set-up does not belong to him. Apparently it belongs to an extremely enthusiastic audiophile who worked for years to find the best turntable set-up for each genre he listened to, and each platter speed he needed. (There was also a picture of horns and tweeters which made this platter set-up look rudimentary, but I lost it.)

a supplement

This is one of three live acoustic St. Vincent songs taped for Lake Fever Sessions. (Lake Fever is outside Nashville.) I appreciate the successful change-up in rhythm (micro bossa) and the bits where Annie has to sing a melody originally played on an instrument.

Nikita Gale sent me this black-and-white shots of Ms. Clark taken after a show. Or before. In any case, not while playing the guitar.
